Merry Kindness

In recent years at this time, I’ve picked a topic to think about for healthy holidays.
In 2010, I wrote about eating more fruits and vegetables. Last year, it was hydration and exercise.
This year I’m thinking about happiness and kindness. Whether your holiday budget this year is big or small, kindness can overflow. And, kindness is good for you too! Check out this article that summarizes two studies on how kindness leads to happiness and vice versa.
Here are some of the kind acts our Facebook fans are doing this year:
Shawn said: “I try to give back year round. I volunteer, donate to charities and do my best to show kindness to others. It shouldn’t be just a once-a-year thing!”
Carol said: “I’m buying gifts for kids in need and a group of us is going Christmas caroling at some of the local nursing homes.”
Colin said: “Instead of toys or things for me, I’m asking family to donate funds to my favorite orphanage in Haiti.”
Priscilla said: “I’m asking for family to give funds to a local weekend food program for school kids who need it.”
Paul said: “We’re giving to a local charity that helps homeless families and children.”
